Manic Street Preachers Gig announced |
Welsh Rock Legends Play Intimate Gig in North East
Q is proud to announce a very special event with one of the UK's biggest and most revered rock bands - Manic Street Preachers. On Monday 27th September, the Welsh three-piece will head to the O2 Academy Newcastle to play an exclusive intimate gig in the venue's smaller second hall for just a few hundred fans.
The trio - James Dean Bradfield, Nicky Wire and Sean Moore - from Blackwood South Wales have now been together for almost 25 years and in that time have produced 9 highly acclaimed albums, toured the world several times and chalked up a lengthy list of Top 20 singles. They have collected countless awards and gathered a growing army of loyal fans plus a reputation as the most interesting, intense and inspirational band of their generation.
This gig will give fans from right around the UK the unique chance to catch the band 'up close and personal' immediately before they head out on the road on their 23-date UK tour (playing at venues 5-7 times the size of this one) and then journey on to Australia and Japan.
This month also sees the Manics back with a fantastic new album, 'Postcards from a Young Man', - which comes out 20th September on Columbia Records and is their 10th studio album. As bold, forthright and communicative as we've come to expect from a Manic Street preachers record, it also marks an unequivocal return to their joyous, euphoric pop rock roots with soaring choruses, lots of strings and gospel choirs.
Alongside the fantastic new single "(It's Not War) - Just The End of Love' (out 13th September), the album contains a collection of anthemic tracks including collaborations with Bunnyman Ian McCulloch, John Cale and Duff McKagen. It also sees Manics' bassist, Nicky Wire, take lead vocals on standout track "The Future Has been Here 4 Ever" whilst bandmate Sean Moore plays trumpet.
Tickets to Manic Street Preachers Live in Newcastle are free of charge and can only be won on competitions on Bauer Radio stations and websites and in local press.

Ash announce UK tour and ticket details |
Ash have announced a trio of new UK tour dates for this November.
The band will play the Edinburgh Liquid Rooms (November 11), Dundee Fat Sams (12) and London O2 Shepherds Bush Empire (13).
Meanwhile, frontman Tim Wheeler has said he thinks the band's headline appearance at Headstock festival this Saturday (September 11) in Nottinghamshire is going to be "even better" than their recent shows at Glastonbury and the Reading And Leeds Festivals.
"When we're playing we always want to go out there and do a great show," he said. "But when you're a headliner there's something special because you're going out there at the end of the night and people really let their hair down. It'll feel really good to be a part of this whole event."
