"It's always brilliant to play for the home crowd," he added, "and these dates are ones that me and the band are really excited about."

Aerosmith announce London show

Aerosmith have announced that they will play London's O2 Arena.

The gig, on June 15, is part of the band's 'Cocked, Locked, Ready To Rock' tour.

Singer Steven Tyler will definitely be involved in the gig, despite persistent rumours that he and the rest of the band are not working together anymore.

"Back by popular demand with more spit and fire than ever before, we're coming across the pond and parting the waters as we go," Tyler said in a statement, with Joe Perry adding: "Enough BS - we're coming and everything is going to be set at eleven."

the godfathers 25th anniversary tour
The Godfathers 25th Anniversary tour dates

Legendary British rock & roll band THE GODFATHERS celebrate 25 years since their formation with their first full UK tour for more than 15 years.

The sharp-suited rockers, led by brothers Peter and Chris Coyne, scored several hits since forming in 1985: including classic tunes 'Birth School Work Death’, 'Love Is Dead’, 'I Want Everything’ and 'Cause I Said So’.

They will celebrate their landmark 25th anniversary with a very special birthday show at London’s historic 100 Club on June 17th, an extensive UK tour and several European concerts and festivals.

The London show will be the first since February’s blistering St Valentine’s Day Massacre set at ULU and falls on the exact anniversary of the band’s first ever gig at London’s Embassy Club on June 17 1985. The 100 Club gig replaces the recently announced Haiti benefit for the same venue, which has now been cancelled.

The Godfathers 25th Anniversary Tour:

Friday April 16: Manchester Academy 2 (with The Alarm)
Thursday, April 29: Aberdeen Warehouse
Friday, April 30: Newcastle Academy 2
Saturday, May 1: Glasgow King Tuts
Wednesday, May 5: Nottingham Rescue Rooms
Sunday, May 9: Colchester Arts Centre
Friday, May 14: Birmingham Academy 3
Saturday, May 15: Bedford Esquires
Monday, May 17: Liverpool Academy 2
Tuesday, May 18: Sheffield Academy 2
Saturday, May 29: Strummercamp Festival, Manchester Rugby Club (Cheadle Hulme)
Saturday, June 12: Mid Summer Fayre Festival, Milton Keynes
Thursday, June 17: 100 Club, London (The Godfathers 25th Anniversary Show)

The Godfathers also visit Spain & the Basque region with concerts at Kafe Antzokia, Bilbao, on Wednesday March 31, Sala Paraninfo in the Canary Islands on Thursday, April 1 and Freakland Festival in Ponferrada on Saturday, April 3, as well as a trio of Dutch gigs at De Nieuwe, Heerlen on Friday, April 23, Nirwana, Lierop on Saturday, April 24, and Bibelot, Dordrecht on Sunday, April 25. The Godfathers will also be performing at the Orange Blossom Special Festival in Beverungen, Germany, on Sunday, May 23.

The Godfathers’ electrifying brand of primal rock & roll foreshadowed the Brit rock resurgence of the 1990s and has become increasingly influential in recent years with multi-million selling American acts Local H and Spoon releasing cover versions of Godfathers’ classics 'Birth School Work Death’ and 'This Damn Nation’. The Godfathers debuted 2 new songs ('Back Into The Future’ and 'I Can’t Sleep Tonight’) at their Saint Valentine’s Day Massacre concert at ULU, London last month and are currently writing material for a new Godfathers’ album due for release sometime in 2010.

More British & European dates & festivals will be announced shortly.

T-Bone Wolk died

Hall And Oates bassist T-Bone Wolk dies at 58
by JOE BOSSO

T-Bone Wolk, best known for his work with Hall And Oates, died Saturday, 27 February, of a heart attack at the age of 58.

Since the late '70s, Wolk has been one of the steadiest-working bassists in popular music. A small sampling of his discography is as follows: Carly Simon, Shawn Colvin, Elvis Costello, Roseanne Cash, Cyndi Lauper, Harry Nilsson, Amanda Marshall, Grey Eye Glances, Paul Carrack, Diane Ziegler, Charlie Musselwhite, Jewel, Ivo, Jellyfish, Avril Lavigne, Billy Joel, Joe Pesci, Leslie Miller, John Eddie and Chynna Phillips.

Wolk's two highest-profile gigs, however, were his long-standing stints with Hall And Oates, which began in 1981 (he got the job after playing on Kurtis Blow's breakthrough rap smash, The Breaks) and his on-camera role as bassist in the Saturday Night Live house band, in which he was paired with fellow Hall And Oates band member, guitarist GE Smith.

But Wolk wasn't simply a bass player. He co-produced several Hall And Oates albums, and recently, on Daryl Hall's continuing Internet Show, Live From Daryl's House, he played guitar and served as musical director.

Check out a portion of an episode below, during which Wolk, playing guitar, joins Hall And Oates for a spot-on rendition of Back Stabbers.

sparklehorse mark linkous died

Mark Linkous, RIP

Mark Linkous, the man who recorded under the Sparklehorse moniker for the last 15 years, committed suicide on Saturday (March 6) in Knoxville, Tennessee. He was 47.

Linkous' family released the following statement over the weekend: "It is with great sadness that we share the news that our dear friend and family member, Mark Linkous, took his own life today. We are thankful for his time with us and will hold him forever in our hearts. May his journey be peaceful, happy and free. There's a heaven and there's a star for you."

Linkous first appeared as Sparklehorse in 1995, releasing debut LP Vivadixiesubmarinetransmissionplot in August of that year (1996 in the UK). Its mix of lo-fi beauty and gothic alt.country - "like Neil Young singing through an aperture in a pan scourer," noted MOJO - was widely acclaimed, but an overdose while touring with Radiohead in the wake of its release nearly killed him, and complications left Linkous wheelchair-bound for six months. 1998's mordant Good Morning Spider proved a courageous and brilliant comeback and 2001's Dave Fridmann-produced It's A Wonderful Life drew on collaborations with admirers including Tom Waits and Polly Harvey.

His last solo LP, Dreamt For Light Years In The Belly Of A Mountain, was released in 2006. The Dark Night of the Soul, a lost album recorded with Danger Mouse, the director David Lynch and a host of other musicians, is to be given a proper release in the summer.

Linkous is survived by his wife Teresa, his parents and his three brothers.
