Noel Gallagher: To Release Solo Album

Noel Gallagher has revealed that he will definitely release a solo album in the near future.

The Oasis lynchpin says he wants to put one out before he looks old and looks like his arch enemy Phil Collins.

He said: “I'll do one (a solo album) eventually as life's too short and none of us are getting any younger. I'd like to make one while I still look good and before I look like Phil Collins, which, eventually, I will.

“It's nothing to do with Liam. I've got the songs – I could do four solo albums.”

In the question and answer session with the Something for the Weekend section in The Sun, Liam also talked about the omitted tracks on ‘Stop The Clocks.'

Speaking about Noel's choice of songs, he remarked: “Yes, I think he's missed a few.. I'd have put on ‘Rockin' Chair' and ‘D'You Know What I Mean?'

“I would have put some off ‘Be Here Now.' If he didn't like the record that much, he shouldn't have put the fucking record out in the first place.

“I don't know what's up with him but it's a top record, man, and I'm proud of it – it's just a little bit long.”

Phil Spector: Rare Track To Be Released

A previously unreleased Phil Spector track, “Spanish Harlem” is to be made available in the UK on December 4.

The track is exclusive to the forthcoming release of “The Phil Spector Collection” double CD.

One disc features the epic “Wall Of Sound Retrospective' with artists such as The Righteous Brothers, Bob B.Soxx And The Blue Jeans and Ike & Tina Turner.

Disc two is a timely Christmas album – “A Christmas Gift For You” features Spectors' pioneering girlgroup sound of the 1960s with The Ronettes, The Crystals and Darlene Love all included.

Smashing Pumpkins: New Album Updated!

The Smashing Pumpkins are more than halfway home on their first album since 2000, according to posts from drummer Jimmy Chamberlin on the group's MySpace.com site . "We have been working day and night in the studio and I am happy to say that the drums are finished!," he wrote earlier this month. "After almost a year of work, to finally sit down and listen to the drum takes, one after another, was a truly joyful experience."

Last week, he chronicled a "magnificent guitar symphony" from Billy Corgan featuring "eight guitars resonating in one big harmonic handshake. It is still ringing in my ears this morning."

His posts carefully worded to avoid any mention of song titles or acknowledgement of who, if anybody, is working with he and Corgan in the studio, Chamberlin has also thanked "the Grateful Dead, Rush [and] Billy Thorpe for their guidance in this hour of need."

"I can honestly say that this has been one of the most musically satisfying and spiritually rewarding trips I have ever been on," he added.

Produced by Roy Thomas Baker and Terry Date, the as-yet-untitled album is expected in late spring, with a tour to follow. No label affiliation has yet been announced; Corgan has released all of his post-Pumpkins work on Reprise.
