Unreleased Michael Jackson song appears online |
by BEN ROGERSON |
Michael Jackson's vault of unreleased material seems certain to be raided by his record company at some point in the not-to-distant future, but a snippet of one unheard song has already made it online.
A 25-second snippet of A Place With No Name was posted by entertainment blog TMZ.com; the song bears a striking resemblance to America's 1972 hit A Horse With No Name.
Indeed, America's manager Jim Morey told TMZ.com: "The band was honoured that Michael chose to do their song and they hope it becomes available for all Michael's fans to hear."
It's currently unclear precisely when A Place With No Name was recorded, but a listen to the drums used on the song suggest that it may date from the mid to late '80s.
You can listen to the song on TMZ.com.

Gary Numan on revivals, reinvention and Jack White |
by ANDY JONES |
"I've got a real problem with nostalgia," confesses Gary Numan, but with his early hits being covered and reworked by artists ranging from The Sugababes to The Dead Weather, it's clear that today's musicians are keen to recognise his achievements.
Numan made his name as the driving force behind Tubeway Army, who scored a number 1 hit in 1979 with Are Friends Electric?. Solo success followed in 1980 with the release of Cars – another chart-topper.
Since then, his work has crossed genres, but despite expressing a desire to keep moving forward, Numan is proud of the part he's played in electronic music's development.

Yoko Ono to appear on new Basement Jaxx album |
by BEN ROGERSON |
Collaborations have always been part of the Basement Jazz shtick, and it seems that their new album Scars, due for release in October, will be chock-a-block with them.
The most intriguing name to appear on Scars' contributor list is that of Yoko Ono, who The Jaxx recorded in New York. Speaking about the experience to Billboard, Felix Buxton, one half of the duo, said: "That was the reason we went out there, and then Yo! Majesty and Santigold fell into place along with that."
Fans who buy the record can also look forward to hearing the likes of Eli "Paperboy" Reed, Sam Sparro, Paloma Faith, Lightspeed Champion and Amp Fiddler.
Basement Jaxx recently released Raindrops, Scars' first single, and this will be followed by another, Feelings Gone. They've also announced a huge pre-Christmas show at London's O2 Arena on 17 December.
