The Eagles: is Back! with New Studio Album

Legendary Cali country-rockers The Eagles are to put out a new studio album, almost 30 years since 1979’s “The Long Run”. “It’s coming out in 60-90 days, if we don’t kill each other first,” explains founding member Don Henley.

Since the end of their extended sabbatical, the band have regularly played live gigs together and have released two live albums.

The new studio LP is tentatively titled “The Long Road To Eden” and band members include Henley, Glenn Frey, Joe Walsh and Timothy B Schmit. Walsh joined the group on guitar in 1976 as Bernie Leadon's replacement and Schmit took over bass duties following the departure of Randy Meisner in 1977.

The Eagles were inducted into The Rock’N’Roll Hall Of Fame in 1998.

Dexys Midnight Runners: New Album Demo Online!

The first demo from the long-awaited fourth Dexys Midnight Runners album, “It’s Ok Joanna”, is now available on the web.

You can access the track – which has a classic Dexys feel – from frontman Kevin Rowland’s official Myspace page.

Dexys’ previous album, “Don’t Stand Me Down”, was released way back in 1986 – after which Rowland decided it was time to call it quits.

Rowland reformed Dexys in 2003 for an acclaimed sell-out tour, and a message to fans on his Myspace page claims that it was this positive response that convinced the band to reform.

The message reads: “In 2003, Dexys were at last reinvented for a critically acclaimed and rapturously received tour. Again, it wasn’t a greatest hits tour, and many of the ideas approaches that were received with bewilderment in 1985 were employed again. But this time, those ideas were understood and very warmly welcomed. The world had caught up with us.”

As well as new music, Rowland is also working on his first book, and his message online ends on a upbeat note: “2007 could be a good year for fans of Kevin and Dexys.”

Prince: New Prince Track Online

A new song by pint-sized pop genius Prince is due to be released today (February 2) on his new magazine website, 3121.com.

No details are available as to the sound of “Guitar” but that hasn’t stopped some fans speculating. The best ‘review’ Uncut uncovered was this beauty on 3121.com’s message board: “’Guitar’ has a long-ass spoken intro about how the word ‘guitar’ can be broken up into "gui" and "tar" and it rambles on for exactly seven minutes and seven seconds about the negative connotations of the word "Tar" in the New Translation Bible…”

The new download single precedes Prince’s appearance at one of the biggest events in the US sporting calendar, the Superbowl, which takes place this Sunday (February 4).

Speculation about whether Prince will promote his new single, or stick to his classics are also up for discussing on boards across the web.

Prince is also playing a weekly weekend residency of shows at the 3121 nightclub in Las Vegas on February 9/10, 16/17/18 and 23/24.
