Rhino records started as a record shop in the early 1970s before became a big label company several years later. This double-CD collection, released in 1995, contained the label's most beloved singles since the beginning of the company.

Most of the songs here did not make a hit but served as samples of artists' avant-grade ideas. The first disc consisted entirely of novelty singles, some of them could also be found on Dr. Demento's collection. Some of them could be found nowhere else, such as The Qworymen's "Beatle Rap", Temple City Kazoo Band's "2001 Sprach Kazoostra", and Bruce Springstone's "Bedrock Rap (Meet the Flintstones)". The second disc contained more traditional rock records, mostly from the obscure groups during 70s and 80s period. Among the highlights were Roky Erickson's "Bermuda", The Pandoras' "In and Out of My Life (In a Day)", and Rank & File's "Black Book".
