In case you might wonder that why there is no surf guitar in the Vol.2 of Rhino’s superb instrumental series, the answer is here. This last installment of the series collects 18 of most memorable, and probably the most important, instrumental pieces of surf music in one place. Almost all of the definitive surf guitars are here, including the Chantays’ “Pipeline”, the Surfaris’ “Wipe Out”, the Astronauts’ “Baja”, and the Pyramids’ “Penetration”. It also contains gems such as the Frogmen’s “Underwater” and Dick Dale & the Del-Tones’ “Misirlou”. It is a great album that effectively fills a hole left in the previous volume.
