This might be the weakest volume in the series, since it has more flaws than any other albums in the set. First is that some tracks here sound more of soul (and disco) than rock such as MFSB’s “T.S.O.P” and Van McCoy’s “The Hustle”. And if they considered to put those two here, how could they missed Love Unlimited Orchestra’s “Love’s Theme”? Furthermore, there is only one movie theme here; no “Dueling Banjo”, “Theme from SWAT”, or even “Theme from Shaft”. However, it manages to capture many highlights of the era such as Apollo 100’s “Joy”, Gary Glitter’s “Rock & Roll, Pt.2”, Hot Butter’s “Popcorn”, and Edgar Winter’s “Frankenstein”. Some gems also present here including BT Express’ “Express”, Walter Murphy’s “A Fifth of Beethoven”, and Nite Liters’ “K-Jee”. |
