This special collection of Eric Records collected some of the best (but hard-to-get) orchestral records ever released to the market. 16 out of 20 songs here were really big hits selected from 1950s and 1960s periods. If you are golden oldies fans, then you should, at least, have heard some of these songs before – even not knowing their titles.
Many of them are monster hits including Paul Mauriat’s “Love Is Blue”, Bert Kaempfert’s “Wonderland By Night”, Acker Bilk’s “Stranger On the Shore”, Les Baxter’s “Theme from Medic”, and Helmut Zacharias’ “When the White Lilacs Bloom Again”. (the first four were actually no.1 hits) There are several memorable TV and movie theme songs here too, such as Richard Hayman’s “Ruby”, Frank Chacksfield’s “Limelight (Terry’s Theme)”, Dick Hyman’s “Moritat”, “Victor Young’s “Around the World”, and Al DeLory’s “Song from M*A*S*H”. Other highlights are rare one-hit wonders, such as Franck Pourcel’s “Only You”, Richard Maltby’s “The Man with the Golden Arm”, and Robert Maxwell’s “Shangri-La”. This album may a bit pricy. But for hard-core fans, it is a worth of money. |
