royal blood reveal out of the track video

Royal Blood reveal explosive animated video for 'Out Of The Black' – Watch!

Royal Blood have revealed the animated video for their song 'Out Of The Black'.

The band, who are nominated for seven awards at this month's NME Awards 2015 with Austin, Texas, worked with Adult Swim's Christy Karacas on the video as well as illustrator-turned-director David Wilson who has previously worked on videos for Arctic Monkeys, Arcade Fire, Metronomy and Tame Impala.

In a statement accompanying the video, Karacas said: "The staging of the action was really important to me as I wanted to create a dynamic space filled with fast paced kinetic energy and movement that matched that of the song. I animated much of the action 'straight ahead' and let the music dictate the movements and ideas in a stream of consciousness way as opposed to pre-planning everything from the start. The unrelenting rhythm of the bass and drums of this song had everything to do with the animation that seemed to just flow out of my fingertips."

Royal Blood will perform live at the NME Awards 2015 with Austin, Texas. Run The Jewels and The Vaccines will join them on the bill. The show takes place at the O2 Academy Brixton, London, on February 18, with tickets available now.

madonna release living for love video

Madonna reveals official version of 'Living For Love' video - Watch!

Madonna has revealed the video for her new single 'Living For Love' after its 24 hour stint on Snapchat expired. The video, which sees Madonna dressed in a matador's outfit and surrounded by men in bull's horns as she performs the song, was made available through Snapchat's new Discover function on Thursday (February 5).

'Living For Love' appears on Madonna's new album 'Rebel Heart', due for release next month. The follow up to 2012's 'MDNA' is out on March 9. On Christmas Day last year, 14 tracks supposedly taken from the record were leaked, while six unfinished demos were previously released without the singer's consent earlier in 2014.

Since then it has been reported that Israeli police had arrested a 39-year-old man suspected of hacking into Madonna's computer and leaking her new album. The arrest was made following a month-long investigation by the cyber crime unit of Israel's Lahav 433 branch (an organisation comparable to the FBI) and a private investigation firm.

Madonna will also perform at this year's Brit Awards, having confirmed her appearance via Instagram earlier this week.

rage to disband

German Band Rage Announce Breakup

The German heavy metal band Rage have disbanded their current lineup according to guitarist Victor Smolski and founding member Peter "Peavy" Wagner.

Wagner and Smolski made up the latest version of the group, which had been together since 1999 along with Andre Hilgers who joined in 2007. They issued the following statement on their official web site (spelling and text as written):

Hi Rageheads,

Urgend RAGE News:

After thinking it over carefully, Peavy and Victor decided to stop working together. This is due to musical and personal changes.

We have developed in different directions in the last years that much, that we cannot identify with the current band situation any more. In this situation we will also part from drummer Andre Hilgers.

The last 15 years together were blessed with many highlights and great releases but this era is over now. Every extension would be untrue to ourselves and to our fans. We wish each other all the best.

Thanks to all the fans for your trust and support.

Peavy & Victor, Feb 2015
Rage was formed in 1984 as Avenger and, after releasing an album and an EP, changed their name to Rage with the release of 1986's Reign of Fear. Their international breakthrough came with 1992's Trapped!.

In 1996, Rage became the first German metal act to release a classical album with Lingua Mortis. They also formed the Lingua Mortis Orchestra that has played and toured with the group through to today.

the platters finally end fake bands

The Platters Finally Do Away With the Fake Versions of the Group

More than four decades of consumer fraud and identity theft in the music industry has ended thanks to the diligence and dying wishes of Rock and Roll, Vocal Group and Grammy Halls of Fame member Herb Reed of The Platters.

Nevada-based United States District Court Judge Miranda M. Du closed the last case in a quartet of contemporary court battles providing the final chapter in an epic story that began half a century ago. The historic litigation, mired in worldwide deceit, greed and intrigue within the music industry, centered squarely on the ownership, performance rights and other intellectual property (IP) of the culturally and historically significant vocal group.

Reed, the founder and naming member of multi-platinum recording artists The Platters, and his fellow original singers, Tony Williams, David Lynch, Paul Robi and Zola Taylor, had their identity stripped away by a seemingly endless proliferation of imposter groups that, to this day, continue to deceive people at all levels of society including U.S. presidents, world leaders, many religious groups, educators, domestic multi-national television broadcasters, journalists and everyday worldwide music consumers.

According to longtime oldies agent and music researcher Cord Cosler, president of Celebrity Direct Entertainment in Florida, "At one time, there were almost 200 groups of 'Platters' playing around the world."

Working under Reed's direction, his friend and manager, Frederick J. Balboni, Jr., hired Eric Miller Sommers of Boston, a rising star in the Intellectual Property (IP) world, to lead the daunting task of unraveling the tangled web of legal battles that had occurred since 1969. Las Vegas-based veteran entertainment and IP litigator John Krieger of Gordon & Silver was later added to the team as trusted Nevada local counsel, as was the international law firm of Holland & Knight serving the same capacity in New York and Florida.

"Reed felt he was the victim of a form of identity theft," said Sommers. "Herb was adamant that he needed to regain control over performing rights to The Platters' name in order for the historical impact of the vocal group's timeless music to evolve after stagnating for 50 years and be able to appeal to new generations of music fans, thereby ensuring and protecting his legacy."

The decisions rectify the wanton consumer fraud that has been perpetrated against the worldwide public and allows The Platters to reestablish their importance in the pantheon of popular music, by not only taking back their legal rights, but also by taking complete control over their legacy and recordings.

"Herb was so happy he literally broke down and cried," said Balboni, recalling the moment that he told Reed the name had been returned to him.

The historic legal decisions achieved by Sommers under Reed and Balboni's direction and forward-thinking business strategies co-conceived by Balboni and George Howard (former president of the world's largest independent record label, Rykodisc, original founder of the world's largest independent music distribution company, TuneCore, manager of Carly Simon and advisor to Fortune 500 companies), finally allows for The Platters to be presented in a manner that speaks to their enduring musical and cultural legacy. This paves the way for Boston-based Herb Reed Enterprises, LLC (HRE)—the management, label, publishing firm operated by Balboni, Jr.—to eliminate the thousands of fraudulent recordings, the remaining imposter groups and marketplace confusion cluttering the legacy of a truly iconic and trendsetting quintet.

This final chapter in a long saga now allows HRE to today announce the release of Back to the Basics LIVE! with The Platters, the first fully-authorized recording of The Platters music in over 50 years.

joe mauldin of the crickets died at 74

Joe Mauldin, Bassist For Buddy Holly & the Crickets (1940 - 2015)

Joe Mauldin, the bassist for Buddy Holly and the Crickets (bottom, right), died on Saturday morning in Nashville. He was 74.

Mauldin was born in Lubbock, TX and played and recorded with the band The Four Teens by the age of 15 in 1955. One day in 1957, he got a call to fill in for bassist Larry Welborn who had been playing with a young Buddy Holly and had recorded his first single, That'll Be the Day. Mauldin readily stepped in and, because of Welborn's busy schedule, ended up slipping into the position of the permanent bass player for the newly named Crickets.

The group, made up of Holly, Mauldin, drummer Jerry Allison and guitarist Niki Sullivan, soon became a trio when Sullivan decided to return to school. They went into a hectic recording and promoting schedule as producer Norman Petty decided to release the group's music under two names with solo vocals going out as just "Buddy Holly" while songs with dubbed backing vocals would be released as "The Crickets". The scheme allowed them to get more releases on the radio then trying to saturate the stations under one name.

Over the next two years, the band would score with That'll Be the Day (1957 / #1 Pop / #2 R&B), Oh Boy! (1957 / #10 Pop / #15 R&B), Maybe Baby (1958 / #17 Pop / #8 R&B) and Think It Over (1958 / #27 Pop / #9 R&B) under the Cricket's name and Peggy Sue (1957 / #3 Pop / #3 R&B), Rave On (1958 / #37 Pop), Early in the Morning (1958 / #32 Pop), Heartbeat (1958 / #82 Pop / #4 R&B) and It Doesn't Matter Any More (1959 / #13 Pop) as Buddy Holly.

The dream came to an end on February 3, 1959 with Holly, Richie Valens and J.P. "The Big Bopper" Richardson were killed in a light plane accident outside of Clear Lake, Iowa.

Holly had been on the tour as a solo artist while Mauldin and Allison were in the studio with Sonny Curtis and vocalist Earl Sinks recording new Crickets music. After Holly's death, they decided to continue as the Crickets with Sinks in the lead although he would be replaced the next year by David Box.

Their first few recordings did not score but, in 1962, their take on Carole King and Gerry Goffin's Don't Ever Change, with Jerry Naylor on lead, went to number 5 in the U.K. That same year, they recorded the album Bobby Vee Meets the Crickets with Vee on lead.

Mauldin left the Crickets in 1965 and moved into sound engineering, doing much of his work at Gold Star Studios in Los Angeles. He also occasionally reunited with Allison as the Crickets over the decades.

The Crickets, including Mauldin, were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2012 in a special committee vote that was meant to right the mistakes made in the past of inducting lead singers without their backing bands. He is also a member of the West Texas Walk of Fame in Lubbock and the Musicians Hall of Fame in Nashville.
