A long list of artists came together on Saturday to record the new version of Do They Know It's Christmas?, this time to fight the scourge of Ebola. On Sunday night, during the broadcast of The X Factor in the U.K., the official video for the song premiered.

Jeremy Clyde From Chad & Jeremy Performs Two Song From His "The Bottom Drawer Sessions" - Watch!

A project that has been brewing since the 80's has finally seen the light of day.

Before Chad and Jeremy started performing together again, Jeremy Clyde struck up a writing partnership with Canadian lyricist David Pierce. Unfortunately, not all of their songs suited the style of the reformed Chad and Jeremy partnership so Clyde decided to make a separate solo album highlighting some of he and Pierce's songs.

Culture Club Tour Cancelled Until Further Notice

The U.K. and U.S. reunion tour for Culture Club has been cancelled until further notice after a polyp was found in Boy George's throat.

Doctor's advised the singer to not perform and rest his voice in case they needed to do surgery. The band issued a statement saying:

George and the band are devastated by this news and so it is with much regret that the tour is cancelled until further notice. Refunds are available at the point of purchase.

We are hoping we can reschedule the concerts for next year, and hopefully George's problem will be resolved... To our fans we wish to thank you for your loyalty and know that we love you all.
Boy George issued his own statement:
I'm devastated but I want to be able to perform to the best of my ability and the specialist has told me that right now that will be impossible. I will focus on getting better and see all my fans soon.
A total of six shows in the U.S. and eleven in the U.K. have been cancelled as a result of the diagnosis. This was to be the band's first tour together in twelve years. Hopefully, Boy George will be better and the band will be able to tour in time to promote their new album, Tribes, which is due early next year.

glenn larson died at 77

Glen Larson of the Four Preps, TV Producer (1937 - 2014)

Glen Larson, who was an original member of the Four Preps and went on to create such TV programs as Magnum P.I. and Battlestar Galactica, has died from esophageal cancer at UCLA Medical Center in Santa Monica at the age of 77.

Most of the tributes being published today are concentrating on Larson's television career but giving only short mention of his role in pop music during the 50's. The group was formed by four students (Larson, Bruce Belland, Ed Cobb and Marv Ingram) at Hollywood High School and were discovered when Voyle Gilmore from Capitol Records heard a tape of the quartet performing at a school talent show.

Gilmore had the group signed to the label, the youngest group to do so to that date, and they began recording but, even though Cashbox called them "the most promising Newcomers of the Year" in 1957, a hit record eluded them.

An appearance was arranged for the group on The Adventures of Ozzie and Harriett which led to their appearing as the opener on Rick Nelson's first major tour. The publicity generated during that trek led to their first breakthrough hit, 26 Miles (Santa Catalina), written by Belland and Larson, which went to number 2 on the Pop and 6 on the R&B charts.

They followed later in 1958 with the number 3 hit Big Man, which brought them appearances on TV programs hosted by Bing Crosby, Bob Hope, Frank Sinatra and an role in the film Gidget.

The group hit the top twenty one last time in 1960 with Down By the Station, also written by Belland and Larson as was Big Man. As the single hits dried up, the Four Preps transitioned into the album market with a series of concert albums recorded on college campuses where they were the number one draw for three years straight.

After Larson left the Four Preps, he started working at Quinn Martin on the series The Fugitive where he got his first taste of television production. He also wrote for It Takes a Theif and was a producer on McCloud. The first series he created from scratch was 1971's Alias Smith and Jones and he followed with a long list of hits including:

  • The Six Million Dollar Man
  • Quincy, M.E.
  • The Hardy Boy/Nancy Drew Mysteries
  • Battlestar Galactica
  • Buck Rogers in the 25th Century
  • The Misadventures of Sheriff Lobo
  • Magnum, P.I.
  • The Fall Guy
  • B.J. & the Bear
  • Switch
  • Manimal
  • Knight Rider
  • Battlestar Galactica (SyFy version as "consulting producer")
Larson is survived by his wife, Jeannie, and nine children.
